So, I went to the book signing at the Book Lovers Bookstore about half an hour early. Met with the owner, set up my display, added a plate full of those mini-candy bars and set up my laptop PC to display The Last Human War website. Added a pile of free book page markers next to the candy. I was as ready to go as I could be.

Didn't have high expectations. Average sales at book signings nationally are only 6.5 books sold per event. To make matters worse, my signing was scheduled from noon ...

A site that makes keeping track of all the books you've read simple. It's called goodreads.com. Maybe there are others like this, I've just never heard of them before. It's not a forum for writers or anything, so I hope this won't be a trespass for mentioning it here. Just a useful tool--like facebook (which I never visit anymore. ...

It was a very interesting life making a living that way. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, but as a hobby it can be really fun. Here are some things I learned during that part of my life that might prove useful to anyone who wants to collect.

1) Learn everything you can about what you collect.

I finished my first ms in January. Since then, I have edited and edited and oh yeah…EDITED. I also managed to start four other stories. All of which seem to want to be novels. For six weeks now, I have not written one creative word.

I am engulfed in rewrites for the first ms. Now I ask myself, “Why am I putting so much effort into this when it is the writing that makes me happy?” The reason? Because my ms is a masterpiece and the entire ...

Had you asked me a year ago, I would have told you that an e-book reader would never have been for me. Last weekend I purchased an iPod Touch and discovered that it happily performs as an e-book reader in a number of different formats. Just download the app for the kind or brand of ebook you would like to buy and you're off and reading.

I love it!

The upside of MNW is that they are first time authors only. They plan on editing your ms. The down side is that if they agree to publish you, they retain all your rights to the first novel and they retain the right to publish the second. There is no advance. You get 20% of net sales. I am getting ready, almost (maybe close), to start working on a query and possibly finding some guts to actually send them out. Some of the agent sites I visited request the first ten to twenty pages to be sent with the query. I was curious if anyone would be interested in reading the first couple of chapters of my ms. I am looking for clarity, punctuation, grammar, and of course interest.

Suggestions are welcomed, of course. I am always looking to improve. Just keep in mind that ...

You are attractive, and active. You never hide your feelings, and express everything that's inside. But you can be selfish at times. You want to be noticed, and don't like to be treated unfairly. You know what to say at the right time, and you have good sense of humor. You can usually brighten up someone's day.

Find your birthday and look up your color... does it match your personality?

Hello everyone,

I am currently striving to remember the exact and specific location of my book, but I simply can't remember.

I tend to repeatedly forget about my belongings... and I was just wondering if you guys have any advice or suitable solutions? How are you able to achieve this? Have any tips? What are your strategies?

I tried to retrace my steps

I tried to remember the general area

I tried to ask my family members

Thanks,

Hit the floor with quite an impact and I was sure I broke it. Crawling under the printer table, I got to the device and the "new" time showed as 65:S.

                The 8 Monkeys

(This is reportedly based on an actual experiment conducted in the U.K.)

Put eight monkeys in a room. In the middle of the room is a ladder, leading to a bunch of bananas hanging from a hook on the ceiling.

Each time a monkey tries to climb the ladder, all the monkeys are sprayed with ice water, which makes them miserable. Soon enough, whenever a monkey attempts to climb the ladder, all of the other monkeys, not wanting to be sprayed, set ...
