Hey Garm,

I’ve just noticed that you've excluded a contests or competitions forum.

I’d like to volunteer and perhaps 'run' (along with other members) the contests and competitions forum (If you'd accept this idea). I currently contain a large number of fun, creative and enjoyable ideas that I'd like to directly contribute and share to our fellow members and site!

Once the competitions has successfully ended… We could possibly move their posts and place them in the corresponding forums for review.

However, the decision is entirely up to you.
If you do not like this idea or would like to wait until further members arrive… then that’s perfectly fine. Laughing

Thanks,
Jack

May I offer a few suggestions?

It seems to me, it would make sense to wait until we have a sufficient "critical mass" of members before starting such a thing. Also, the contests on WF.org are lacking in participation, IMO, because they are far too frequent. I think it would be better to offer a monthly schedule that would give people a lot more time to prepare and participate, rather than the weekly schedule. Just thinking out loud.

I agree with you NaCl; it’s unfortunate that weeks tend to pass by quickly. However, monthly competitions aren’t as terrible because it allows members to successfully write a story/poem with adequate amounts of time.

It also allows a reasonable time for voters to digest all the material and make an informed decision, hence participation in voting may improve instead of the same 'ol twelve people every time.

Jack, I think this is a fantastic idea. We definitely need a higher number of members to make this work though.

But, really, the amount of members we currently have is more than the total voters that usually vote for stories over there. It is quite disheartening to tell the truth.

I welcome your ideas and you can bet this will happen. Let me know what you're thinking and we'll get this thing going. It may take a while for it to get a high number of members participating, but we'll get there.

Dean. How many members you think to make this work?

Do you guys think even a month is long enough for each contest? It really isn't long enough over there.

And should it be set up so other members don't know who they're voting for? That might be more trouble than it's worth...

Let's kick some ideas around and make this happen.
