Ode to My Kitchen Table
So, I'm not a poet... Not even a little bit...I don't even know where to begin with the mechanics of the art. But I posted this to an online Moms group where I'm a member, and thought you all might enjoy it... At least anyone with little ones at home (or anyone who's just messy).
(PS.. I hope this is an appropriate place for this... It's certainly not poetry for review! Just a little tid bit I hope will give you a smile)
Ode to my Kitchen Table
Sleek black glass,
Bevelled edge-
Fine dining you should serve.
Covered, though,
And not by a cloth
But by burden undeserved.
Lap top, Photographs, laundry basket too.
Lovely kitchen furniture,
What has become of you?
Mail, hangers, stuffed toys and snacks;
Books and sodas,
Diaper bag.
Crumbs about your glossy legs,
Peas, and crackers,
Bits of egg.
Chairs askew,
Dragged here, dragged there.
Finger smudged edge
Punctuates your despair.
A place for everything,
And everything in it’s place?
So sorry, my table,
But not in my haste.
I promise again
That with cleaner and cloth,
I’ll wipe you all shiny,
I’ll get the mess off.
But alas!
For my efforts,
I live in disorder.
So you’ll cluttered
You’ll stay,
My glass topped junk horder.
